Created in 1955 under the name "Constance or Fifeties Constance", it was spotted and adopted in the 1960s by Jackie Kennedy. The iconic First Lady of the United States was photographed on numerous occasions with her fetish bag, propelling it to iconic status. It was then renamed Jackie by Gucci.
It was revisited in 1994 and again in 2004, attesting to the bag's timeless success, but we'll especially remember the version by current Artistic Director Alessandro Michele, who unveiled the Jackie 1961 (the year John F. Kennedy became President of the United States) at the Autumn-Winter 2020 show. Since then, it's been all the rage: the Jackie is THE bag everyone wants!
The bag has a removable shoulder strap adorned with the Web stripe, allowing it to be carried by hand, on the shoulder or across the body - a practical and oh-so-chic bag!
This model is the very latest version of the Jackie, recognizable by its clasp, which closes with a hook instead of the plunger of the previous model.
